Life is good!

So we had our first winter storm which made work unbearably slow.  I tried to close up early, but the wonderful person I work for who was at home toasty with his bottle of wine and his family would not let us do it.  Not that my team needed to get home safely or anything like that.  The roads were only icy and dangerous.  Not to worry, all my team members called me to say they made it home just fine, thankfully.

Now I have the next two days off, kind of.  I will get phone calls, have conference calls and a webinar.  I just hope I don't have to go in to work, the rest I can deal with.

Funny work story - We had a guest complaint through e-mail that said this -

"I am emailing you, as I have corporate management, regarding my recent experience at the restaurant.
I was dining with my girlfriends as we celebrated a birthday before shopping on October 10, 2010 and experienced the worst meal/experience I ever have at the restaurant.
My friends and family in attendance were very disappointed AND offended by the food AND the comments made by YOU personally.
We  very diplomatically complained about the portions and the long wait
. The waiter sent you over to our table and we explained that the shrimp dinner and chicken dish had the smallest portions we'd seen before and that we had already waited a very long time to receive our food to begin with. You then proceeded to say that the portions were new and you were not in a position to change anything to our satisfaction. Furthermore you told us that we were thin and not unhealthy looking and that we probably would be full by the portions provided.
You then walked away without any apology or further explanation.
We all stand by our decision to contact the restaurant until we get an apology and an appropriate delicious and satisfactory meal.
I have emailed once before regarding this matter with no response and now I have contacted corporate as I mentioned above to get a resolution to this.
We feel insulted and cheated... Not good business in this economy with so many deals to dine out and particularly so many choices in the immediate area.
Until this experience, my friends and family have dined at the restaurant often as it has been convenient and we feel one the best "chain" restaurants in the country. I have not been to a the restaurant or partner since."

So I when I talked to her, the first thing she or anyone else who complains said, and I quote,"I am not looking for anything for free." (see above bold red highlighted and make your own conclusion)  And, "I'm in the customer service industry."  And, "thank you for the gift certificates, I will be back."  There was quite a bit more that she said like how attractive her and her girl friends are and that is most likely why the manager said this to them.  Ha ha, I bet she is a real looker, or something that rhymes with that (hooker just in case you didn't get it).  I feel bad for people like this.  there is no way a manager said that to a guest so you can laugh all you want.  In the end, she got a bunch of gift certificates FOR FREE.  I think I may start writing about more of these absurd complaints or stupid restaurant people because they make me laugh.

More importantly, my next two days off and what to do.  I'm not sure because it's been a while since I've had that.  The last time I had this, my son won a hockey tournament.  What could compare to that.  There are only 3 people I want to see, my son, my daughter and my beautiful girlfriend.  Both kids have school, which I may let them play hooky from and my girlfriend has to work one of those days, well part of one of them.  So I will get to see them and I couldn't be happier about it.  In fact, I don't care what we do.  I would like to play hockey, maybe go see a movie and out to dinner.  Have some cocktails and get a little silly.  Some sleep would be good too,

Oh wait, Detroit has it's first Monday Night Football game since 1998.  The first ever at Ford Field.  Don't get too excited, it's not the Lions.  It's the Giants and the Vikings.  Still, would be fun and the tickets are free.

Anyways, two days off in a row.  Life is good!
